Baltimore has always been a city of powerful voices, bold stories, and a deep love for hip-hop. This summer, the Lyrics Do Matter youth workshop invites the next generation to step into that legacy with two of Baltimore’s most inspiring artists:
Bossman, a hip-hop icon with over 25 years of experience, and Lor Xay, the city’s youngest rising star at just 11 years old.
Bossman’s story began at the same age Lor Xay is now—11. Raised in the heart of Baltimore and shaped by real challenges, Bossman used rap as both survival and salvation. His voice would go on to earn him the distinction of becoming the first Baltimore rapper to land a million-dollar record deal.
Today, his mission is to give back—mentoring and empowering youth to use music as a tool for change.
